At least 16 residents were reportedly killed after a military air strike hit Tungar Kara community, Maradun Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara state on Saturday evening.
Gatekeepers News reports that Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on Lake Chad region revealed this.
Quoting intelligence sources, the publication said the victims include members of Zamfara Community Protection Guard (ZCPG), vigilantes, and residents of the community who were called to respond to the incursion of gunmen.
It noted that the vigilantes were mistaken for bandits who had fled the scene.
