Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Miller Dantawaye as commissioner of police of Kogi state and Betty Otimenyin as commissioner of police for Edo state.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ikechukwu Ani, PSC’s head of press and public relations in a statement on Thursday, noted that the new commissioners would take over from the current ones who would retire this month.
According to the commission; Chukwuka Onuoha, the CP for Kogi state will retire on January 22 while Peter Umoru, Edo CP will retire on January 25.
PCS noted that Dantawaye was in charge of information technology at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, while Otimenyin served as deputy commissioner in charge of administration in Anambra state.
Ani said, “The new Kogi CP had served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Operations with the Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).”
“The new Edo CP started her police career in Bauchi State and had served as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in various divisions in Plateau and Edo.”
Hashimu Argungu, PSC’s chairman urged the new commissioners to demonstrate dedication and commitment to securing the two states.
He added that approval for the appointments had been sent to Kayode Egbetokun, inspector general of police (IGP), for implementation in a letter signed by Onyemuche Namani, secretary to the commission.
Argungu encouraged the new CPs to assume their duties immediately and work towards enhancing security in both states.
He said the commission would monitor their performance and support efforts to ensure the safety of the states.
