Federal Government has congratulated Donald Trump following his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America.

Gatekeepers News reports that Nigeria and the United States, as noted in a statement signed by the Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa on Tuesday, have enjoyed cooperation in diverse areas of mutual interest, especially promoting good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

“Nigeria therefore looks forward to further strengthening our historic, strong, and vibrant strategic partnership for the benefit of all our people,” the statement added.

Trump was sworn in for a historic second term as president on Monday.

Upon swearing-in, he immediately laid over 100 policies which he intended to implement, the top of which included a threat to cancel birthright citizenship by immigrants and travellers who did not have approval to reside in the country.

He also threatened to deport illegal immigrants residing in the country.
