A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilesa, Osun State has ordered a woman named Rhoda Adu to pay ₦150,000 to her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola for failing to show up after collecting N3,000 transportation.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to report, Rhoda decided to switch off her phone and did not show up as agreed, thereby causing emotional distress to her partner.
Police Operatives arrested Rhoda after Sola reported the incident to Ayeso Police Station, and was subsequently charged to court.
Sola presented evidence, including the mobile money transfer and WhatsApp messages between him and Rhoda to the court.
In his ruling, Magistrate Akogun Oludare said Rhoda must repay the ₦3,000 transport fare, an additional ₦100,000 for breach of agreement, and ₦50,000 for emotional distress.
According to the court, the ruling was meant to serve as a deterrent to similar behaviour in the future.
