No survivors in mid-air collision between American Airlines flight and US military helicopter over Potomac River in Washington DC, officials say.

Gatekeepers News reports that the crash occurred near Ronald Reagan National Airport, claiming the lives of all 67 people on board – 64 from the American Airlines flight and three from the helicopter.

Emergency services chief John Donnelly confirmed that 28 bodies have been recovered so far.

The investigation is ongoing, with officials focusing on why the helicopter was flying in that location.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy described the circumstances leading up to the crash as standard, with experienced pilots and clear weather conditions, but acknowledged that “obviously something happened”.
