Jose Peseiro has been appointed as the new head coach of Zamalek SC in Egypt, following the departure of Christian Gross, who was relieved of his duties earlier today.
Gatekeepers News reports that the announcement was made by the Egyptian club via its official social media account.
Peseiro, 64, had been without a coaching role since parting ways with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in March 2024. In his new position at Zamalek, he will serve as the technical director and oversee the first team.
According to reports from Egyptian media, Peseiro has signed a contract lasting one and a half years, although the terms of the deal have not been publicly disclosed. He becomes Zamalek’s third manager this season.
Previously, Peseiro led the Super Eagles to a second-place finish at the 2023 African Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast and achieved victory in the Egyptian League during his solitary season with Al Ahly.
Currently, Zamalek is positioned third in the Egyptian Premier League, trailing behind second-placed Al Ahly by three points, and sitting one point behind league leaders Pyramids FC.
