New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano has suspended Sen. Kawu Sumaila, senator representing Kano South Senatorial District.
Gatekeepers News reports that the party also suspended three other lawmakers; Kabiru Alhassan Rurum representing Rano/Kibiya Federal Constituency), Ali Madakin Gini representing Dala Federal Constituency, and Sani Abdullahi Rogo representing Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituency.
The party chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa announced the suspension at the party secretariat in Kano.
Dungurawa noted that the lawmakers were elected under the NNPP platform, have recently been acting contrary to the party’s interests, norms, and values
He said, “the members were given complimentary tickets during the party elections but began to work against the party’s interests after being elected.”
“We are seeing them (four of them, Senator Kawu Sumaila, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya Federal Constituency), Ali Madakin Gini (Dala Federal Constituency), and Sani Abdullahi Rogo (Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituency)) as not too functional members of our party.”
“They are doing things contrary to our interests, norms, and values of our party, and we find it very necessary for us to have a stand, which is to suspend them because of their wrongdoings, bad attitude to the party, and demoralizing party stand.”
Dungurawa cited an instance with a gathering where Senator Kawu Sumaila commissioned some projects, and they were not invited, whereas APC bigwigs such as the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, were in attendance.
