NPC Warns Nigerians About Fake Census Recruitment Website

National Population Commission (NPC) has issued a public advisory regarding a fraudulent website that is misrepresenting itself as a recruitment platform for the 2025 Population and Housing Census.

Gatekeepers News reports that this announcement was made in a statement by NPC spokesperson Erelu Taibat Oloruntoba on Tuesday.

The misleading website, identified as https://npc-career.allprogram.site/job, falsely portrays itself as a means to recruit individuals for the upcoming census. The NPC has clarified that, at this time, there is no recruitment for ad hoc staff related to the 2025 Census.

In a related development, President Bola Tinubu has announced the formation of a committee to align the census budget with the government’s financial strategy prior to the official announcement for the biometric Population and Housing Census.

The NPC reassures the public that official recruitment announcements for ad hoc staff will be communicated through national media outlets and the NPC’s verified social media channels and website. Consequently, it encourages Nigerians to disregard any information from the fraudulent website to prevent falling victim to scams.

Furthermore, the NPC is actively investigating the individuals behind the fake site and stresses the importance of relying solely on official communication channels for accurate information.

“We want to state unequivocally that the Commission is not currently conducting any recruitment for ad hoc staff related to the upcoming census.

“Nigerians should be aware that when a date is set for the census and recruitment of ad hoc staff becomes necessary, it will be officially announced through national media outlets, as well as the NPC’s verified social media platforms and website.

“Consequently, we urge the general public to disregard the fake website and its misleading information to avoid falling victim to scams.

“The Commission is actively investigating the creators of this fraudulent website. We encourage everyone to seek accurate information regarding the NPC’s activities from our official social media handles and website,” the statement read in part.

The NPC reiterated its commitment to keeping the public informed as preparations for the country’s first biometric Population and Housing Census continue.
