Edo State Government has extended warm greetings to the Muslim community as Ramadan begins.

Gatekeepers News reports that the state government addressed the Muslim faithfuls in a statement by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the State Government on Saturday.

Ikhilor stressed the significance of this fasting period for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and compassion.

The SSG encouraged emulation of Prophet Muhammad’s teachings and urged prayers for peace and security in Nigeria.

The government reiterated its commitment to supporting all citizens, promoting a peaceful and inclusive society, and wished Muslims in the State a happy and successful Ramadan.

The statement reads, “As we welcome the holy month of Ramadan, the Edo State Government extends its warmest greetings to the Muslim Community in the State. This period is a time for spiritual rebirth, reflection and rejuvenation marked by fasting, prayers and spiritual growth. It is also a time to show love and kindness to our neighbours and fellow citizens.”

“We recognize the significance of Ramadan and its values of unity, compassion, self-discipline, empathy, love, generosity and peace.”

“As we embark on this holy assignment, let us remember to emulate the teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammad and to pray for the peace and security of our dear country, Nigeria.”

“Edo State Government remains committed to supporting the welfare of the good people of the State, regardless of faith, tribe or background. We will continue to do this to ensure a peaceful and inclusive society.”

“On behalf of Edo State Government, I wish all Muslims in the State a happy and successful Ramadan.”
