Lagos Suspends e-call-up Enforcement For Tankers On Lekki-Epe Route

Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has announced a temporary suspension of the enforcement of the e-call-up system for petroleum tanker operators along the Lekki-Epe corridor.

Gatekeepers News reports that this decision follows a meeting with key industry unions, including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), and the Petroleum Tanker Drivers branch of NUPENG.

The unions requested this suspension to facilitate further discussions with their members, and they have committed to ensuring compliance with parking regulations during this period. The ministry emphasized, however, that enforcement of the e-call-up system will be reinstated if the unions do not fulfill their commitments.

The statement from the ministry indicated that the decision was reached after thorough discussions held in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Transportation, demonstrating the state’s willingness to collaborate with union leaders to address ongoing concerns.

“The union leaders promised to ensure parking compliance by their members while engagement meetings continue, and the ministry will resume enforcement in the event of a violation of this agreement.

“All parties agreed on the importance of the e-call-up system as the best solution for managing truck movement along the Lekki-Epe corridor.”

The meeting was attended by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and the Permanent Secretary, Olawale Musa.
