DSS – Police Foil Bandit Attack In Katsina

A joint security operation has foiled a planned bandit attack on Dan Takuri village in Danmusa Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina state.

Gatekeepers News reports that Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on Lake Chad region disclosed this.

Makama said the operation was carried out by Katsina police command, Department of State Services (DSS), and Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).

According to the publication; DSS intelligence operatives said the operation took place at about 12:30 pm on Saturday.

Abubakar Sadia Aliyu, Katsina police spokesman in a statement on Sunday, said an intelligence report from DSS had indicated that a group of armed bandits had assembled at Maijele Mountain, preparing to launch an attack.

He said, “Upon receipt of the information, promptly, a joint team of police operatives and members of the KSCWC led by the DPO Danmusa stormed the mountain where the suspected armed bandits were assembling.”

The spokesman noted that one of the bandits was killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

He added, “A fierce gun duel ensued, resulting in the neutralisation of one of the armed bandits due to the superior tactics and firepower of the operatives, as several others escaped with various degrees of injuries.”

Aliyu said during a search of the scene, one AK-47 rifle with three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an unregistered red Boxer motorcycle, 50 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 32 bottles of soft drinks, a cutlass, and various dangerous drugs were recovered.
