Constituents in Kogi central have begun the process to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the national assembly.

Gatekeepers Newreports that this move comes after Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of s3xual harassment and was subsequently suspended from the senate on March 6 for “gross misconduct”.

Videos circulating on social media show constituents lining up to sign petitions, a crucial step in the recall process.

A source in Kogi confirmed to TheCable that the recall process is ongoing, with constituents heavily mobilising to recall the senator.

The recall process, outlined in Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution, involves the electorate, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and a referendum.

The process is expected to take two days across all polling units in the five local government areas of Kogi central.
