Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has pledged to cover the medical expenses of victims involved in the tragic motor accident that occurred in Karu, Abuja, on Wednesday evening.
Gatekeepers NewsĀ reports that the accident, which was caused by a brake failure, resulted in the loss of six lives and injured 25 others, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Wike described the accident as “avoidable” and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
He also sympathised with those injured and directed the continuation of their treatment.
The Minister immediately directed Adedolapo Fasawe, the FCT Mandate Secretary on Health and Environment, to ensure prompt treatment of the injured.
Dr. Fasawe worked alongside medical personnel at Asokoro District Hospital, attending to the 17 casualties brought in.
Wike emphasised the importance of caution on the roads, particularly for heavy-duty vehicle drivers, urging them to adhere strictly to speed limits while driving.
