Justice Demanded For Nigerian Tech Founder Killed In Lagos Accident

Death of Adetunji Opayele, co-founder and chief technical officer of Nigerian tech startup Bumpa, has sparked public outrage and calls for justice.

Gatekeepers Newreports that Opayele, 32, was killed in a road accident on March 4 along Ozumba Mbadiwe road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to eyewitnesses, Opayele was riding his power bike when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by Biola Adams-Odutayo, a healthcare professional. Despite wearing full safety gear, Opayele was left unconscious on the road.

A petition demanding justice for Opayele has been launched on (link unavailable), alleging negligence and an attempted cover-up.

The petition claims that Adams-Odutayo refused to assist Opayele after the accident, instead choosing to stay on a phone call for over 30 minutes.

“After the crash, Biola Adams-Odutayo refused to step out of her vehicle to check on Teejay,” the petition reads. “Bystanders and good Samaritans rushed to help, begging her to assist, but she did nothing.”

The petition further alleges that Adams-Odutayo was charged with reckless driving and granted bail, but that the charges do not reflect the severity of the case. Opayele’s family, friends, and the public are demanding justice, including an upgrade of the charges against Adams-Odutayo to include manslaughter.
