Val Kilmer, legendary Hollywood actor, is dead. He aged 65.

Gatekeepers Newreports that Kilmer’s daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed his death on Tuesday night in Los Angeles following a lengthy battle with pneumonia, as reported by The New York Times.

Kilmer first gained widespread recognition for his role in “Top Gun” and became well-known for his portrayals of iconic figures such as Jim Morrison in “The Doors,” Doc Holliday in “Tombstone,” and Batman in “Batman Forever.” His impressive filmography also includes significant performances in “Heat” (1995), “The Saint” (1997), and “Willow” (1988), along with a recent appearance in “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Throughout the 1990s, Kilmer was considered one of Hollywood’s top actors; however, his career faced challenges due to conflicts with directors and co-stars, alongside several unsuccessful projects that affected his standing in the industry. Kilmer was often characterized as temperamental, intense, perfectionistic, and at times, egotistical.

In 2014, he was diagnosed with throat cancer but underwent treatment and later recovered, according to a statement from his daughter.
