Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North, has expressed his delight over the verdict delivered by the three-man Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that the tribunal, in a unanimous judgment today, affirmed Governor Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State in the September 21, 2024, governorship election.
In a statement released to the media through his Chief of Staff. Hon. Victor Oshioke, Oshiomhole described the ruling as a reflection of the will of the people and a testament to the thoroughness of the judicial process. According to him, the judges meticulously examined all motions, evidence, and testimonies before arriving at their decision.
“This verdict is once again a clear testimony that the people of Edo State truly chose Okpebholo to rescue the state after the unfortunate years of PDP’s misrule,” Oshiomhole stated. “With this victory at the tribunal, one expects that the PDP and its governorship candidate will realize that further legal battles are an exercise in futility. Instead, they should join hands with Governor Okpebholo in advancing the remarkable achievements he has recorded within a very short period.”
Oshiomhole further called on all petitioners to reconsider their stance, emphasizing that prolonged litigation would only serve as a distraction from the developmental goals set by the Okpebholo administration. He also extended gratitude to APC party members across the state, particularly those who traveled to Abuja to testify as witnesses, and all who stood firm with the Governor throughout the legal proceedings.
“A new Edo has risen,” Oshiomhole declared. “Now is the time for all of us to unite behind Governor Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, in actualizing their vision of a prosperous Edo State where peace, security, and economic stability thrive.”
