Nyesom Wike, Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has congratulated Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, on his tribunal victory.
Gatekeepers News reports that Wike congratulated Okpebholo in a statement on Wednesday by Lere Olayinka, his senior special assistant on public communications and social media.
Recall that the tribunal on Wednesday, upheld Okpebholo’s victory in Edo state governorship election held September 2024, dismissing the petition filed by Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate.
Wike said the ruling is a reaffirmation of the mandate freely given to the Governor by the people of the state.
He urged Okpebholo to remain focused on governance and not be distracted by those who “are only interested in getting power through the back door”.
The minister added that the tribunal verdict was for the people of Edo state and implored the Governor to remain committed to service.
Wike further expressed confidence in Okpebholo’s leadership, saying he believes he will bring development to the state.
He added, “I believe in him and with the way he has started, I believe that his government will impact positively on Edo State and its people.”
