Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s security measures, stating that their ineffectiveness has become pervasive.
Gatekeepers News reports that Abubakar’s remarks followed the tragic events in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, where suspected bandits reportedly killed more than 10 individuals on Wednesday night. This incident occurred just a week after gunmen attacked the Ruwi community in Bokkos LGA, targeting mourners gathered in honor of a deceased member of the community.
In the span of one week, reports indicate that over 40 residents have lost their lives in various attacks across Bokkos LGA.
In a statement posted on X, Abubakar highlighted the growing frequency of violent incidents throughout the country, emphasising that many such incidents go unreported.
“The failure of Bola Tinubu’s security architecture has now become an endemic nationwide phenomenon with repeated killings, more of which do not even make the headlines,” Abubakar wrote.
“Nigerians are now being forced to get used to such news of wanton killings, and I again offer my condolences to the bereaved communities of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State and the affected families.”
Abubakar advised Tinubu to “reconfigure” security architecture to meet the needs of protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.
