House of Representatives ad hoc committee overseeing the emergency rule in Rivers State has postponed its scheduled interactive session with the state’s sole administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas.
Gatekeepers News reports that the session, originally set for Thursday, April 17, was intended to address the state of affairs in Rivers following the declaration of emergency rule.
Ibas was expected to brief the lawmakers on the governance situation and recent developments under his administration.
Akin Rotimi, the House spokesperson, announced on Thursday that Ibas requested rescheduling of the briefing, adding that a new date for the session would be communicated in due course.
The rescheduled meeting comes amid ongoing scrutiny and controversy surrounding the federal intervention in Rivers State.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state on March 18, 2025, following a prolonged political crisis.
He also suspended Siminalayi Fubara, the state Governor; his deputy, Ngozi Odu; and all members of the Rivers assembly for six months.
The president appointed Ibas, a retired naval chief, as the state’s sole administrator.
