Abba Yusuf, Governor of Kano, has distributed 10,000 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms for students in the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ibrahim Adam, special adviser to the Governor on information announced this in a statement on Monday.
Adam noted that Haruna Makoda, Kano’s education commissioner, has also inaugurated centres across the state where students would learn how to take computer-based tests.
He said Governor Yusuf has promised to provide free transportation for the beneficiaries and urged them to ensure they pass the examination
Adam reiterated the Governor’s commitment to developing education in the state.
He highlighted key interventions such as revival of both foreign and domestic scholarship schemes, reopening of 21 vocational and skills acquisition centres, and the renovation of primary and secondary schools.
The aide said, “Other achievements include the reduction of 50 per cent of registration fees in state-owned tertiary institutions, cash conditional transfers to support girl-child education, and the settlement of registration fees for NECO, NABTEB, and NBAIS, to mention a few.”
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf urged all the beneficiary students to make the best use of the opportunity and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.”
He added that the future belongs to those who work tirelessly to turn dreams into realities.
