Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has unveiled an 18-athlete squad to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming World Relays in Guangzhou, China.
Gatekeepers News reports that world record holder in the 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, will compete in the women’s 4x100m relay race.
Amusan has been instrumental in Nigeria’s recent success in the women’s 4x100m relays, anchoring the team to gold medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2024 African Games. She will be joined by Favour Ofili, Chukwuma Rosemary, Umukoro Success, Eyakpobeyan Tiana, and Chukwuka Obi Jennifer in the women’s 4x100m relay.
The men’s 4x100m team consists of Akintola Alaba, Onwuzurike Udodi, Ashe Favour, Anunagba Karlington, Olaoye Folawiyo, and Itshekiri Usheoritshe. The mixed 4x400m squad includes Okezie Chidi, Ojeli Ifeanyin, Nathaniel Samson, George Patience Okon, Idamadudu Praise, and Omolara Ogunmakinju.
The 2025 World Relays will take place from May 10 to 11, with the top 14 countries in each event securing automatic qualification for relays at the World Athletics Championships in Japan later this year.
