Two women have been seriously injured in an attack involving a crossbow and a firearm in the Headingley area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdon (UK).
Gatekeepers News reports that a man has been arrested, and counter-terrorism police are now leading the investigation.
Emergency services rushed to Otley Road around 2:47 p.m. BST on Friday, where three people including the suspected attacker were found with injuries and taken to hospital.
According to authorities; the 38-year-old suspect had suffered a self-inflicted wound. A crossbow and a firearm were recovered at the scene.
Counter Terrorism Policing North East has taken over the case from West Yorkshire Police, with an extensive cordon remaining around the area.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley said early inquiries suggest the suspect acted alone and that no other individuals are being sought.
Assistant Chief Constable Carl Galvin assured the public that every effort is being made to uncover the facts.
He said, “Uniformed officers are present in the Otley Road area to reassure residents and continue investigations.”
Galvin thanked members of the public who assisted at the scene and urged people not to speculate or share material online that could compromise the active investigation.
