Edo State Government has approved the revocation of the appointments of three traditional rulers in the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the development was communicated in government special announcement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
The affected monarchs include Umoru Inusa Umoru, the Aidenogie of South Ibie in Etsako West Local Government Area, whose appointment has been revoked due to the stool not being vacant prior to his appointment. Alhaji Aliyu Kelvin Danesi has been reinstated as the Aidenogie of South Ibie.
Also, Lukman Akemokue, the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella in Etsako East Local Government Area, removed for failure to comply with the Declaration of Customary Law regulating succession to the throne. A new selection process for the position has begun.
Similarly, Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, the Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom, Agenebode in Etsako East Local Government Area, sacked over recent cases of kidnappings and killings in his domain. A selection process for a new ruler has commenced.
The Edo State Government has urged subjects of the affected localities to remain calm, assuring them of its commitment to maintaining peace, unity, and prosperity in the state.
