Fubara Hails Rivers Workers’ Dedication Amidst Challenges

Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State
Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed his appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the state’s workforce amidst ongoing political and socio-economic challenges.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement released on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara highlighted the significant contributions of workers across various sectors.

He emphasised that they are integral to the state’s development and serve as a beacon of hope for a more prosperous future.

The suspended governor, who noted the relevance of this year’s Workers’ Day theme — “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate”, called for greater attention to occupational safety and climate-conscious labour practices.

He noted that protecting workers from environmental and workplace hazards is critical to sustainable development.

Fubara also acknowledged the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in championing labour reforms and supporting climate-resilient policies aimed at enhancing workplace safety across the country.

Despite recent governance disruptions in the state, the governor praised Rivers workers for maintaining their integrity and patriotism.

“Your sacrifices and sense of duty are the cornerstone of our state’s stability and progress,” he said.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, Fubara urged employers in both public and private sectors to respect labour laws and uphold the rights and dignity of all employees.

He emphasised the need for continuous improvements in working conditions, aligning them with both legal standards and moral obligations.

The suspended governor prayed for divine guidance for all leaders and assured the people of Rivers State of his resolve to build a work environment defined by dignity, opportunity, and prosperity.

He encouraged citizens to remain hopeful and united, expressing confidence that “the forces of justice, peace, and progress will ultimately prevail.”
