Starlink, in an email to subscribers, announced a price adjustment for its residential internet service in Nigeria, increasing the monthly subscription fee from NGN 38,000 to NGN 57,000, a 50% hike.

Gatekeepers News reports that new customers will be affected immediately, while existing subscribers will start paying the revised rate from May 30, 2025.

“The monthly service price of Residential is increasing to N57,000,” the email reads.

“As a current customer, your monthly service price will increase beginning 30 May 2025. For new customers, the price increase is effective immediately.

“If you do not wish to continue service, you can cancel at any time on your account page.

“You can receive a full refund of hardware and service if your Starlink is returned within 30 days of purchase or half refund of the hardware if purchased within the last year.”

This price revision follows the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) January 2025 approval of a 50% tariff increase for telecom operators.

This is not Starlink’s first attempt to raise prices in Nigeria.

In October 2024, the company proposed a NGN 75,000 monthly subscription fee, but faced regulatory resistance and was forced to suspend the plan.

A subsequent announcement in December 2024 to increase prices from January 27 was also not implemented.

The latest price adjustment appears to have been made in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
