Tinubu Felicitates Chief Imam of Ibadan – Sheikh Agbotomokekere At 90

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Abubakr Agbotomokekere, Chief Imam of Ibadanland and Grand Imam of Oyo State, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the cleric for his unwavering dedication to the faith, promotion of peace, and lifelong efforts to uplift the spiritual lives of Muslims across Nigeria.

The President praised his commitment to unity and religious tolerance, especially across the southwest and neighbouring states such as Edo and Delta, where he also serves as the Grand Patron of the League of Imams and Alfas.

He said, “Sheikh Agbotomokekere has exemplified a life of uprightness, humility, and steadfast devotion to the service of Allah and humanity.”

“His commitment to interfaith harmony in Nigeria is a beacon to all. The Muslim Ummah, and indeed the nation, are indebted to him for his wise teachings, insightful sermons, and dedication to educating the next generation in line with the teachings of the Holy Quran.”

President Tinubu also acknowledged the Imam’s profound spiritual influence, noting that his leadership and teachings have extended far beyond the borders of Ibadan or Oyo State.

A scion of a respected lineage of Islamic scholars and leaders, Sheikh Agbotomokekere has been instrumental in shaping Islamic thought and fostering peaceful coexistence for decades.

The President offered heartfelt prayers for continued good health, vitality, and divine guidance for the nonagenarian.

He added, “We pray Almighty Allah grants him many more years in good health, joy, and a sound mind.”
