Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and the Dangote Petroleum Refinery have agreed to promote mutually beneficial partnerships and foster healthy competition to enhance Nigeria’s energy security and promote shared prosperity.
Gatekeepers News reports that the development comes after Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, visited Bayo Ojulari, NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, at his office in Abuja.
During the meeting, Dangote emphasised the importance of cooperation between the two organisations, stating, “There is no competition between us, we are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of co-operation between the two organisations.”
He also expressed confidence in the NNPC’s capable team, saying they can overcome the challenges ahead.
Ojulari, in his remarks, assured Dangote of a win-win partnership built on fair competition and meaningful collaboration.
He praised the high-quality talent within the NNPC, describing its staff as “dedicated, highly skilled, and hardworking professionals focused on creating value for Nigeria.”
The NNPC GCEO also highlighted the company’s commitment to fostering national prosperity through innovation and shared vision.
Both executives have agreed to serve as relationship managers for their respective organisations, driving a new era of cooperation that balances competition with mutual interest. This move is seen as a strategic step towards deepening collaboration between Nigeria’s top energy giants and ultimately boosting the country’s energy security.
The meeting marks a significant shift in the relationship between the NNPC and Dangote Refinery, which had been strained over issues such as crude oil supply and petroleum product prices.
