Nigeria’s Oil Production Rose By 6% In April

Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NUPRC) has announced that the country’s oil production rose to 1,485,700 barrels per day (bpd) in April.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the development marks the first month-on-month increase in production figures.

In comparison to March, oil production saw a significant rise of 6.06 percent, moving from 1,400,783 bpd to 1,483,000 bpd. The increase is largely attributed to the inclusion of condensate in the calculated production totals, as highlighted by NUPRC’s latest data on crude oil and condensate output.

When factoring in condensate, total oil production for April increased from 1.603 million bpd in March to 1.683 million bpd in April.

Condensate is a mixture of light liquid hydrocarbons that mimics a light crude oil and possesses a high API gravity. It is separated from natural gas during production when the gas is subjected to atmospheric conditions.

NUPRC also noted that the average crude oil production for April represents 99 percent of Nigeria’s OPEC-set quota of 1.5 million bpd.

The commission reported that the lowest and peak combined production of crude oil and condensate in April were 1.60 million bpd and 1.73 million bpd, respectively.

The daily average production stood at 1,683,307 bpd, which includes 1,485,700 bpd of crude oil and 197,607 bpd of condensate.
