Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has removed Elie Bitar, a foreign national, from its list of wanted persons in connection with the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) crypto fraud case.
Gatekeepers News reports that Bitar was declared wanted on April 30, 2025, for alleged involvement in CBEX, an unregistered cryptocurrency trading platform accused of defrauding Nigerian investors.
According to the EFCC, new information led to Bitar’s removal from the wanted list. His profile has been deleted from the EFCC website.
The commission emphasized that it’s making progress in its investigation and collaborating with international law enforcement agencies to track down eight other suspects implicated in the CBEX fraud. These individuals include Seyi Oloyede, Emmanuel Uko, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun, Johnson Okiroh Ofienolu, Israel Mbalika, Joseph Michiro Kabera and Serah Michiro.
The EFCC assures the public that it won’t relent in bringing all actors involved in the fraudulent dealings to book.
The investigation is ongoing, with the commission working to recover lost investments and bring perpetrators to justice.
