A man was on Wednesday, electrocuted while attempting to steal armoured electrical cables at Jigawa state’s secretariat complex in
Dutse.
Gatekeepers News reports that Lawan Shiisu, the spokesman of the state police command, confirmed the incident in a statement.
Shiisu noted that the incident occurred around 10am on Wednesday, adding that on getting to the scene of the incident, operatives found the man under a slab containing armoured cables.
The spokesman noted that preliminary investigation showed that the deceased was electrocuted while attempting to vandalise armoured electrical cables connected to a high-voltage power source.
The statement reads, “A team of policemen led by the divisional police officer of Dutse division responded to the call.”
“Upon arrival at the scene, the police officers discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a slab that contained armoured cables.”
Shiisu noted that the deceased’s body had been deposited in the morgue for examination.
While condemning the act, Shiisu warned the public against engaging in hazardous and illegal activities.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities in their communities to the nearest police station.
The spokesman added, “As the investigation progresses, the command will provide additional updates.”
