Despite Manchester City dominating possession and creating more chances, Palace stood firm defensively and made their moment count through a clinical counter-attack.
Erling Haaland led the attack for Manchester City, with Kevin De Bruyne positioned in midfield. Crystal Palace also fielded their strongest lineup, including Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze.
Although City controlled 80% of possession, they struggled to convert it into goals and were repeatedly denied by Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson. Palace capitalized on a rare opportunity in the 24th minute, with Eze scoring from a swift break.
During the match, Henderson handled the ball just outside the box, but no red card was issued. City also missed a crucial penalty, and a second Palace goal was disallowed for offside.
In the end, City failed to win any goal, while Palace held on for a historic victory, ending a long winless streak against their opponents.
