Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested an alleged notorious bandit and kidnapper, Sani Galadi, at Sultan Abubakar International Airport in Sokoto during the screening of intending Muslim pilgrims.
Gatekeepers News reports that the arrest was made on Monday after operatives trailed the suspect.
This development comes just 24 hours after security forces, including the DSS, arrested another suspected bandit and kidnapper, Yahaya Zango, at the hajj camp in Abuja.
Zango is reportedly linked to multiple kidnapping incidents in Abuja and Kogi.
The arrests underline the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the northern region. The country has witnessed an uptick in violent attacks, including insurgent attacks and kidnappings.
In response to these security concerns, the military has procured new equipment to strengthen efforts against insecurity.
According to Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, the new equipment will enhance the military’s ability to tackle the resurgence of insurgent attacks.
Hajj Pilgrimage
Meanwhile, a total of 64,188 Nigerians are expected to perform the hajj this year. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) had completed the airlift of intending pilgrims in four states to Saudi Arabia on May 12.
