A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged arson attacks at properties connected to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, the Metropolitan Police said.
Gatekeepers News reports that the suspect was arrested on Monday morning in Chelsea, south-west London, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
The arrest follows the detention of two other men in connection with the fires, which relate to three incidents: a vehicle fire in Kentish Town, a fire at Sir Keir Starmer’s private home on the same street, and a fire at an address where he previously lived in north-west London.
A 26-year-old man was arrested at Luton Airport on Saturday on suspicion of the same offence, while Roman Lavrynovych, 21, a Ukrainian national, has been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. Lavrynovych has been remanded in custody until June 6.
The Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation due to the connection with a high-profile public figure. The police have been given extra time to question the man arrested at Luton Airport.
Sir Keir Starmer has thanked emergency services for their work following the fires, but his official spokesman said the PM cannot comment further on a live investigation.
