Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has petitioned the Senate, alleging that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) basic military training programme list is dominated by non-indigenes of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the petition was submitted by Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, during plenary on Tuesday.
Mohammed expressed concern over the inclusion of non-indigenes as Bauchi applicants in the recruitment exercise, stating that it was against the interest of the state.
“It is imperative, Mr. President, to note, that the interests of Bauchi state has been so shortchanged, so marginalised,” he said.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, referred the petition to the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, and the Committee on Air Force for further investigation.
“The petition will be argued at the committee’s level,” Akpabio said, mandating the committees to act on the petition and report back to plenary within seven days.
