UTME Glitch: JAMB Registrar Denies Conspiracy Claims
Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has denied allegations that the technical glitch that occurred during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was part of a conspiracy against certain parts of the country.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the glitch affected five states in the South-East zone and Lagos, sparking widespread criticism and calls for Oloyede’s resignation.

At a meeting with the board’s management, Oloyede stated that there was no deliberate attempt to undermine students from the South-East, emphasising that every candidate is Nigerian and has equal opportunities.

“Every candidate is Nigerian and has equal opportunities,” he said.

The South-East Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives had called for Oloyede’s resignation, describing the examination’s outcome as a “national shame”.

In a statement, the caucus leader, Igariwey Iduma Enwo, said: “We call for the immediate suspension of those at the commanding heights of JAMB’s digital operations and examination logistics. The registrar of JAMB is said to be a good man, but then, leadership must carry consequences.”

Oloyede, however, maintained that the technical glitch was not a result of a conspiracy, and the board is working to ensure that the examination process is fair and transparent. The board rescheduled the examination, and the results are expected to be released soon.
