Tobi Amusan has won the women’s 100 meters hurdles race at Diamond League meet in Rabat, Morocco.
Gatekeepers News reports that the hurdler who has previously won the Diamond League 100m hurdles title three consecutive times between 2021 and 2023, clocked a season’s best time of 12.24 seconds to set a new meeting record.
The Nigerian hurdler shattered the previous mark of 12.51 seconds held by Brianna McNeal, securing her first major win of the 2025 season.
The 28-year-old had a slow start to the year with fourth-place finishes at the Xiamen and Shanghai Diamond League events in May. Although she claimed a win at Jamaica’s Velocity Fest 16 in March, it came against a less competitive field. Her Rabat victory marks a strong comeback after a disappointing 2024 season, where she failed to reach the final at Paris Olympics.
Speaking after the win in Rabat, Amusan credited her training routine with improving her execution in Morocco.
She said, “More hurdles practice, because I have been doing more sprinting. It was after the first two Diamond League meetings, I knew I had to go back to doing more hurdle drills.”
“Two weeks in, I can tell the difference.”
