As part of measures to strengthen the urban renewal programme, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Tuesday, flagged off the reconstruction of Zungeru Road within the Sabon-Gari area in Fagge Local Government.
Gatekeepers News reports that the 3.6 kilometre road project was initially awarded for construction during the second tenure of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso but abandoned by the preceding administration in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.
Delivering his address, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, said the reconstruction of Zungeru Road is part of the government’s steadfastness in creating critical infrastructure for the better living of citizens of Kano.
He added that Kano, as an emerging megacity, deserves high-quality roads, assuring commitment of the government to enhance people’s lives through the execution of key developmental projects.
The governor tasked the contractor handling the road project to ensure timely completion and strict adherence to the stipulated rules and guidelines. He assured contractors in the state of prompt payment for contracts completed.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf appreciated the support and cooperation of the Sabon-Gari Community to the present administration; urged for sustenance of the tempo for rapid socio-economic development of Kano.
