Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured a spot in the Unity Cup final after defeating Ghana’s Black Stars 2-1 in a thrilling “Jollof” derby match in London.
Gatekeepers News reports that Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 14th minute with a clinical finish, assisted by Sodiq Ismail. Just five minutes later, Ghana’s Razak Simpson inadvertently doubled Nigeria’s lead with an own goal.
Ghana struggled to create scoring opportunities in the first half, failing to record a single shot on target. However, they showed signs of life in the second half when substitute Brandon Asante-Thomas pulled one back for the Black Stars in the 70th minute.
The win sets up a Unity Cup final clash between Nigeria and Jamaica on Saturday.
The Reggae Boyz booked their spot in the final with a 3-2 win over Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday.
