Edo Govt Begins Profiling Of Property Owners In New City Development

Edo State Government has begun profiling exercise for property owners in the New City Development, formerly known as Coral City, as part of ongoing efforts to resolve lingering land disputes in the area.

Gatekeepers News reports that the development was announced in a statement (Ref: ED/CLR/001) by Secretary of the Committee on Land Disputes Resolution, Dr. Abdulwasiu Oyakhire on Saturday, 31 May 2025.

The committee noted that the exercise, which will be an on-site activity, will be conducted in the community by the relevant agencies of the Edo State government on Lot-A and Lot-B simultaneously. Other Lots will follow subsequently.

Property owners in the affected areas are required to come forward with their documents and also present their surveys.

In cases where a survey is unavailable, accurate coordinates will be accepted. Surveyors will also be on ground to assist with coordinate identification.

The initiative follows the directive of Governor Monday Okpebholo, who had recently met with the committee and community leaders from Oke-Oroma, Obagie, and Amagba at the Government House in Benin City.

The Governor had in the meeting told the communities and other stakeholders to submit their documents to the committee for profiling, verification, and thereafter regularization for onward issuance of C-of-O.

The statement added, “His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo is committed to ensuring that peace retums to the affected area to enable residents co-exist peacefully once again.”
