French President Emmanuel Macron is set to host Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) team on Sunday to celebrate their Champions League victory.
Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in a statement by Elysee Palace.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the match played at Allianz Arena, Munich, on Saturday.
In a post on X, Macron praised the team’s triumph, calling it a “day of glory for PSG.” He added, “Bravo, we are all proud. Tonight, Paris is the capital of Europe.”
Paris Mayor, Anne Hidalgo also described the achievement as “historic” while speaking to journalists, noting that this marks PSG’s first-ever Champions League title.
Subsequently PSG won on Saturday, celebrations by the club fans turned into violence across several parts of France.
Two people died and hundreds were arrested during the chaotic celebration.
