Social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) has expressed his views on the recently released Nollywood film based on his life, titled ‘VeryDarkBlackMan.’
Gatekeepers News reports that the film debuted four days ago and has quickly gained popularity, accumulating over 103,000 views on YouTube. Renowned actor Gentle Jack stars in the lead role.
In a recent video shared on Instagram, VeryDarkMan acknowledged the recognition of being the subject of a biopic so early in his career, describing it as an honour. However, he also voiced his disappointment regarding the portrayal of his story in the film.
The activist highlighted the importance of having been contacted by Gentle Jack for a more accurate understanding of his background, motivations, and personal journey.
According to him, he would have been open to discussing even the more controversial aspects of his past to ensure a faithful representation.
“So, about this trending movie baba Gentle Jack had to play me, I have a problem with it. To be very honest, I am not even happy with it, while even watching it, I even cringed. First of all, I want to give a special out to baba Gentle Jack, and I am happy,” he said.
“You know why? In the whole country, it has not been long that I started reigning as VeryDarkMan, let us say two to three years now.
“I am going to three years in the game, consistently I have been at the top and from nowhere they are doing a biopic of me, telling my own story where there have been legends and no one told their story.
“That is something big, that means they see I have been trying, so I appreciate the love. But I have just a problem with Gentle Jack, you are a legend. There is no way Gentle Jack would send me a message, and I would not respond in less than 30 minutes if I see it. There is no way, absolutely no way.
“I wanted to talk earlier, but I wanted people to watch it, so that they can understand where I am coming from. Since Gentle Jack had that power, he should have written to me, VeryDarkMan, what is your story? I want to play your story and I will tell you everything you need to know about me.
“What motivated me in speaking up for people, what made me this, why I do not collect money for anything, my background, everything I will tell you. I would not hold back anything, I am not interested in whatever money you people decide to make out of it.
“I will give you the whole story down to when I was doing sexual content, the ladies I have slept with, the people I sold my explicit content to, I would not hide anything from you. I do not fear anybody, I do not have plans to be a good person or let people see me as a good man.
“I am convinced by what I do, so Gentle Jack would have reached out to me and said give me your story, instead, they went to make a caricature of me and Koko P.”
