Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos state, has dismissed speculations of a rift between himself and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Gatekeepers News reports that Sanwo-Olu addressed the speculation on Sunday after he and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) visited the president at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The visit comes amid growing speculation of a rift between the two, especially following recent political developments in the state, including the temporary impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly who was later reinstated.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Sanwo-Olu noted that there was no feud, calling the visit a “festive courtesy” and reaffirming his loyalty to Tinubu.
He said, “Do you see any discord? Can’t you see that you are smiling? I’m smiling. There’s none (feud).”
“There are people who believe that they are more Catholic than the Pope. People are just crying more than the bereaved. We are grateful that he has given us an audience today.”
When asked about the agenda of their meeting with the president, Sanwo-Olu said the Lagos APC stakeholders expressed appreciation for the direction of the Tinubu-led administration and noted that the economy is showing signs of recovery.
He further questioned the basis of the planned June 12 protest saying, “What will be the basis of the protest? The economy has made a positive bend. Give this president more time.”
