Democracy Day: Oshiomhole Salutes Nigerians
As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, the Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has extended heartfelt tributes to Nigerians for their steadfast commitment to sustaining democratic governance.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement commemorating the day, and made available to the press by his Chief of Staff Hon. Victor Oshioke, Oshiomhole said the real heroes of democracy are the Nigerian people who, in 1993, rose above ethnic and religious divides to elect a leader they believed could transform the nation.

“That historic moment demonstrated our collective capacity to pursue unity and progress over division,” he said.

Now 32 years later, Oshiomhole noted that while the country’s democratic institutions are growing stronger, Nigerians must remain vigilant.

“We cannot afford to take our democratic journey for granted,” he warned.

“There are still forces among the elite who exploit ethnic and religious sentiments during elections to achieve their selfish objectives. These individuals are enemies of unity and a threat to national development.”

He urged citizens to continue rejecting such divisive politics and instead focus on building a united and prosperous Nigeria.

As part of his Democracy Day message, the former labour leader and former governor of Edo State called on Nigerians to support President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in his efforts to implement bold policies aimed at securing Nigeria’s political and economic future.

“This Democracy Day is a time to renew our commitment to this nation and the inherent collective benefits in the success of the Nigerian project,” Oshiomhole said.

“Together, with courage and patriotism, we will continue to strengthen our democracy and move our nation forward.”
