2Face Calls For Urgent Action Over Killings In Benue

Nigerian singer, Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2Face, has strongly condemned the recent attacks and killings in Benue, his state of origin.

Gatekeepers News reports that over 100 people were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma LGA last week.

An additional 25 lives were also lost in Mtswenem and Akondotyough Bawa, both in Makurdi LGA.

Reacting in a post on Instagram, 2Face expressed sorrow and frustration over the ongoing bloodshed, noting that the situation a national emergency that demands urgent and collective action.

The singer called on all stakeholders both at the state and national levels to come together and find a meaningful, lasting solution to the crisis.

He said, “What is going on in my state has become a national emergency. I can not wrap my head around it. I do not even know what to say at this point in time because it is going to be business as usual.”

“This thing has to stop. It has to evoke everybody. Everybody, every stakeholder in this country, every stakeholder in Benin state. This is not child’s play. It’s becoming ridiculous.”

“This, I do not even, I do not know where to start expressing my sadness, my grief, my anger, my frustration for these things that keep happening over and over again. You know. Every time, okay, we call on the governors, we call on the president. Oh man, this thing is not funny anymore.”

“It has gone beyond just condemning. Serious action needs to start to take place. Every stakeholder needs to come together. We need to fight this. We need a solution here. Let us be serious with the solution. My heart is heavy, terribly sad, terribly angry.”
