Newly deployed Commissioner of Police (CP) to Borno State Police Command, Naziru Abdulmajid on Monday issued a stern warning to officers and men of the Command that he will not condone any act of corruption, unethical conduct and human rights abuses.
Gatekeepers News reports that Abdulmajid asked the officers and men of the Command to remain committed to Police core values adding that ” together, we will raise the bar of excellence in service delivery.”
Abdulmajid gave the warning during his maiden press conference held at the Police Command Headquarters in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The Commissioner of Police noted that the public expects exceptional service, and to meet this expectation, all officers and men must collaborate and strive for excellence in their duties.
According to him ” To the officers and men of the Borno State Command: the expectations are high. I urge you to remain professional, disciplined, and committed to our core values. Corruption, human rights abuses, and unethical conduct will not be tolerated. Together, we will raise the bar of excellence in service delivery.
“I’m optimistic that, working together, we will strengthen public confidence in the police and foster a secure environment where every resident of Borno State can live, work, and thrive in peace.”
The new CP who commended his predecessor CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, (Rtd) said his administration would raise the bar in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency and other criminal activities in the state.
“Borno has shown remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. I am fully aware of the complex security landscape, and I assure you that we will work relentlessly to sustain and improve the gains recorded in the fight against crime, insurgency, and other threats to public safety.
“We will enhance visibility policing, strengthen collaboration with sister security agencies, and deepen our partnership with traditional institutions, religious leaders, community groups, and the media. I believe strongly that security is a shared responsibility, and with your support, we can build a safer Borno.
“I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to the public for cooperation, information sharing, and mutual trust. My doors remain open to suggestions and constructive engagement that will help us deliver better policing services,” CP Abdulmajid said.
