Tinubu To Pay Emergency Visit To Benue Over Killings

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday, visit Benue state to address the ongoing violence in the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, revealed that Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Kaduna state has been shifted to Thursday.

Tinubu’s visit to Benue is part of efforts to assess the situation firsthand and engage with stakeholders on resolving the crisis.

The statement reads, “He will meet with traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community leaders, and youth groups to seek lasting solutions to the hostilities.”

“According to his itinerary released over the weekend, President Tinubu was scheduled to visit Kaduna State on Wednesday to commission various state government projects. However, the official visit will now occur on Thursday, June 19, 2025.”

Onanuga noted that in preparation for the visit, the president had already dispatched the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, National Security Adviser, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees to Benue State.

The statement added, “The President is expected to hold a town hall meeting with all stakeholders during the visit.”
