Trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which centers on accusations of terrorism and treason, has reached a significant milestone with the federal government declaring its position.

Gatekeepers Newreports that on Thursday, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, representing the federal government, announced the conclusion of the prosecution’s case.

The statement followed the testimony and cross-examination of the fifth prosecution witness, referred to as EEE for security reasons, conducted by Kanu’s attorney, Onyechi Ikpeazu, before Justice James Omotosho at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Awomolo informed the court that the prosecution was content with the substantial evidence presented, which included recordings of Kanu’s broadcasts and the testimonies of five witnesses. He noted that the government had adequately fulfilled its obligation, thereby officially closing its case against Kanu.

“I therefore close the case, ” the senior lawyer said.

The lead defence counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, told the court that they would be opting for a no-case submission, which would be filed in due course
