John Clark, Celtic legend and a member of the club’s historic 1967 European Cup-winning team, has died at the age of 84.
Gatekeepers News reports that Clark, who joined Celtic in 1959, made over 300 appearances for the club.
He spent more than 40 years with the Glasgow side in various roles, including player, coach, assistant manager, and kit man.
During his 13-year playing career, Clark secured four Scottish league titles, four League Cups, and three Scottish Cups.
Celtic in a statement, confirmed his demise, paying tribute to his lasting legacy and contributions to the club.
It said, “Everyone at Celtic Football Club is deeply saddened at the news that legendary Lisbon Lion, John Clark has passed away at the age of 84.”
Praising the deceased, Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers said, “ Greatness is a word people throw around, but for John Clark, it is a very fitting tribute.”
“John was instrumental in delivering our greatest day ever and his achievement is forever etched in Celtic’s proud history.”
