A young man from Kano State generated public concern when he climbed a high-rise billboard and threatened to jump unless his favorite TikTok celebrities agreed to meet him.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident took place in Gadar Lado, drawing a crowd and necessitating emergency response efforts. Abdullahi Kiyawa, the public relations officer for the Kano State police, confirmed the situation in a social media update, indicating that the individual threatened to leap if his online idols did not arrive.
“Right now the security forces are trying to rescue him. He said if celebrities who follow on TikTok don’t go there, he will fall. May God protect us,” he wrote.
In response, security operatives were deployed to the scene in an effort to de-escalate the situation. As bystanders gathered, there was widespread speculation about whether the young man’s actions represented a genuine cry for help or if it was a calculated attempt for social media fame.
After several hours of negotiations, officials successfully brought the man down.
Kiyawa later reported that he had been taken to the police hospital in Bompai for medical evaluation and care.
“At last the young man was rescued and taken to police hospital in Bompai,” the police spokesperson added.
