Hijrah 1447 AH: Lagos Muslim Community Calls for Unity – Faith Renewal

The Muslim Community of Lagos State has felicitated Muslims across the state and beyond as the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH, begins.

Gatekeepers News reports that this was contained in a New Year message signed by Hon. Muhammed Bello Oyinlomo Danmole, President of the group, and Alhaji Jubril Folami, Public Relations Officer.

The group expressed gratitude to Allah for the gift of life and the privilege of witnessing another Hijrah year.

It highlighted the spiritual significance of the Hijrah, recalling the courage, sacrifice, and steadfastness of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions during their migration to preserve their faith.

The Muslims emphasised that the new year is a time for deep reflection, renewal of faith, and a recommitment to Islamic values such as justice, compassion, truthfulness, and unity.

The community offered prayers for divine guidance, protection, and blessings upon Lagos State, its leaders, the Muslim Ummah, and all families.

The message reads, “Alhamdulillāh for the gift of life and the opportunity to witness the beginning of a new Hijrah year: 1447 AH.”

“On behalf of the entire Muslim Community of Lagos State, we extend warm greetings to all Muslims across the state and beyond.”

“The Hijrah reminds us of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his companions as they migrated for the sake of preserving their religion. It is a time for reflection, renewal of faith, and a recommitment to living by the principles of Islam: justice, compassion, truthfulness, and unity.”

“As we begin this new year, let us purify our intentions, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, uphold peace, and contribute positively to our communities. We also pray for continued guidance, protection, and mercy from Allah (SWT) upon our state, our leaders, our families, and the entire Ummah.”

“May 1447 AH be a year of peace, prosperity, progress, and spiritual elevation for us all. Āmīn.”
